Romania’s integration into the global economy can be traced through the dynamics of presence of foreign owned companies in the Top 100 Romania – a real quality status indicator of the Romanian economy.
Developing Top 100 Romania for 2011 led to conclusions of vital importance for the future approaches regarding the analyses of increase in competitiveness, namely that for the first time the foreign owned companies covered 82.1% of the turnover of the top companies and 86.31% of the gross profit.
According to the theory of one of the authors regarding the significance threshold of 80%, the results indicate that, overall, the foreign owned companies have a decisive role in the performance of the Romanian economy. There was an urgent need of research focused on the main markets of Romania, which had to answer several key questions, of which we may cite:
- What is the share of foreign owned companies in the major markets of Romania?
- What is the influence of foreign owned companies on the manufacturing markets – the main export sector of the Romanian economy?
- What is the share of the market leaders, foreign owned companies?
The authors considered necessary that the proposed approach begins by analyzing the importance of multinational companies in the process of globalization of the world economy.
